| The rural house is at 8 km from the
workshop site. Flat, quiet, road crossing vineyards
and nice landscape. |

|
| Once you enter through the traditional gothic
arch, you will find other traditional mallorcan
designs such as the splayed arch, or the big arch
that supports the upper floor structural wall... |

|
| ...or the interesting "escala de volta"
the stone staircase that succesivelly leans on 3
walls to reach the upper floor. No iron or cement
involved, just a clever use of stereotomy of stone
techniques. |
|
| The houses blend into the landscape thanks to
the soft earth colours of the old walls. |

|
| Small loggia looking to the "clastra". |
|
The "clastra" is the traditional
pebble paved central courtyard that articulates
the communication among the different parts of
a rural house.
In the center, a big cistern accumulates the
rainwater for the long dry summer months. |

|
These solid and durable houses are built by
is a combination of "paret de fanc i pedres",
(fieldstones with earth&lime mortar) for the
structural thick walls and the "marès"
stone , a soft sandstone, employed for the door
and window frames, staircase, arches...
Vernacular buildings made with local materials
and by mostly self-builders working force, can
stand 300 years with a minimum of maintenance. |

|
| Centuries old stone troughs of hard limestone
continues to serve the house, generation after generation.
The time runs slower and the stone offers a connection
with the roots of our culture. |

|
The shady rooms are designed to withstand the
strong summer heath. A combination of thick walls
with great thermal mass, lime breathable mortar,
terracotta tiles and the simple exercise of closing
the windows during the day and opening them at
night allows a surprising thermic confort. Simple.
Effective.
Ah! and the siesta... |
|
Simple rooms. This is just one example since
each room is different. Double beds available
on demand.

| Another room, getting ready for the workshop. |

| Example of shared bathroom. |

Other facilities include a basic swimming pool and
access to a Kitchen for evening meals.
